Who can become a member
CAFLP membership is open to anyone interested in food law and policy! Whether you are an academic, a student, a practicing lawyer or a food law and policy enthusiast, you are welcome to join.

Membership offers the opportunity to engage with a dynamic community committed to scholarship, professional development, and meaningful dialogue on current food law and policy issues. Benefits of membership include:
Professional Network: Connect with a diverse community of practitioners, scholars, students, and professionals across Canada and internationally.
Members' Only Communications and Resources: Access the CALFP listserv and member communications, where information, opportunities, events, and developments in food law and policy are shared.
Governance and Leadership Opportunities: Participate in the Annual Members’ Meeting and help shape the future direction of the Association.
Volunteer and Board Eligibility: Apply for leadership roles on the Operational Committee or serve on the Board of Directors.
Conference Discounts: Receive discounted registration rates for CAFLP conferences, events, and educational programming
Support for Advancement in the Field: Contribute to the growth of food law and policy through collaboration, research, and education initiatives.
Categories of Membership
There are three categories of membership.
Established-Career Members
An Established-Career Member is any individual who is interested in food law and policy with 5 or more years of employment. The Established-Career Membership fee is set at $90.
Early-Career Members
An Early-Career Member is any individual who is interested in food law and policy and in their first 5 years of employment. The Early-Career Membership fee is set at $60.
Student Members
A Student Member is any individual interested in food law and policy, who studies at a school or university or is currently working as an articling student or clerk at the time of registering as a member. Even if you will be called to the bar this year, but you have not yet been called, you may register as a Student Member. The Student Membership fee is set at $30.
Membership Renewal
Membership in the CAFLP must be renewed on an annual basis.
All memberships, no matter when a member registers, will expire on June 30th of each year.
