Teaching Food Law Through Generations

Saturday November 14, 2026, 8:30am-10:00am, Room W105

For this 10th Anniversary CAFLP conference, this panel will be presented in a fireside chat format and will feature three generations of food law professors: Don Buckingham, Heather McLeod-Kilmurray, and Tasha Sioufi Stansbury. Tasha will moderate and guide the conversation while also contributing her own perspectives.

The conversation will cover topics including differences in student enrollment and research interest, evolutions in curricula, where students have ended up after their legal education, what teaching resources were available, changes in emphasis on different topics, and others. Since Don taught Heather, and Heather taught Tasha, the conversation will also include reflections on intergenerational inheritance of knowledge and how to carry that knowledge forward with responsibility and integrity.

Speakers:

Don Buckingham

Heather McLeod-Killmurray, Faculty of Law (Common Law Section) of the University of Ottawa

Tasha Stansbury, Faculty of Law (Common Law Section) of the University of Ottawa
