How do I get to Thunder Bay?

Thunder Bay is home to an international airport which is the hub of travel for the entire Northwestern Ontario region.  Daily flights to and from the city are serviced by Air Canada, Westjet, and Porter Airlines (in addition to small, regional carriers).

If you’re traveling by road, Thunder Bay is found at the crossroads of Ontario Highways 11, 17 & 61 – you can’t miss it!  This city is located approximately 15 hours northwest of Toronto via car and is situated roughly 45 mins from the US (Minnesota) border.  

Various car rentals, taxis, and URide transportation services are readily available.

The conference itself will be held at the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law. Our address is: PACI building, 401 Red River Rd, Thunder Bay, Ontario.

 

Where Should I Stay?

There are many accommodation options available in Thunder Bay at a variety of price points.

For those interested, we have booked a block of rooms at the Courthouse Hotel. This hotel is located less than 1km from the conference location at the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law (PACI Building) - approximately a 9-minute walk.

how to book: to book a room, call (807) 699-7666 and indicate that you wish to book a room under the Canadian Association for Food Law and Policy Conference Room Block. You can also book online through this link. Rooms will be blocked until Oct 2nd.

We have also been in touch with the Delta Hotel by Marriott. This hotel is located at Thunder Bay’s waterfront harbour.  The hotel is located roughly 1.4 km from the conference location - approximately a 16-minute walk. You can book directly through their website. There is no discount code.

There are also several airport hotels including the Hampton Inn and the Valhalla.  These hotels offer shuttle services to the airport.  The airport and surrounding hotels are located approximately 10 km from the conference location.
