Works-in-Progress Workshop

Call for Proposals

The Canadian Association for Food Law and Policy (CAFLP) invites proposals for its Works-in-Progress Workshop, to be held on October 23, 2025, at the University of Ottawa as part of the 9th Annual CAFLP Conference.

This workshop aims to build a dynamic and supportive intellectual community in food law by offering a collaborative space for scholars to share and receive feedback on their ongoing academic work. Throughout the day, each selected paper will be allotted roughly 55 minutes for discussion, beginning with a brief author introduction, followed by two discussant presentations and concluding with a group discussion. Please note that all participants are expected to have read each of the papers in advance of the workshop.

We welcome proposals from all scholars working in the field of food law and policy and especially encourage submissions from late-stage PhD candidates and early-career scholars (2–5 years post-PhD) currently in postdoctoral or faculty positions.

Submission Guidelines:

- Submit an abstract (max 300 words) outlining your proposed work-in-progress and a short biography (max 100 words) to info@foodlaw.ca by June 30, 2025.

- Accepted participants will be notified by mid-July.

- All participants must submit an unpublished 8,000-word draft or work-in-progress by October 1, 2025.

While this year’s conference theme is “Made in Canada”, we welcome submissions that extend beyond this theme, provided they maintain a substantial connection to food law.
